ymbcdriqlpzh How did you switch households, as in, what steps did you take? Is the house your old sims were living in empty now, or are other sims there?

I went to edit town and clicked the change active household button then chose choose new household then start playing with this household but after a few times playing with my other household other sims moved into the household where my other active household use to live?
ymbcdriqlpzh Your sims might have moved, or they could just be gone. The game isn't supposed to cull sims that you've played, but this mechanic is unreliable.
Still, it's worth searching for them. Go to Edit Town and check each occupied household for your sims. You don't need to switch households; just look at the preview and see whether your sims are present, either on their own or combined with another household. That shouldn't happen either, but it does sometimes.
There's no way to prevent this without mods. If you're interested, let me know, and I can list the mods to add and what to do with them. You could also use a mod to try to recover the sims if they don't live anywhere—they might not be completely deleted yet.

puzzlezaddict what mod can I use to try to recover the sims?
ymbcdriqlpzh You'd need to add NRaas MasterController, and I would strongly recommend ErrorTrap and Overwatch as well, to clean up any bad data. You can find more information on them here:

Click the house where you want the sims to be, select NRaas > MasterController > Add Sim, X out the filter, find the sims on the list, and select them. You can add all of them at once if you like.
This will only work if the sims still exist in your game in some way, as in, their data hasn't all been flushed. Hopefully that's the case.

puzzlezaddict go to edit town to or no?
ymbcdriqlpzh No, just load into whatever household you're currently playing. Let the game clock run for a few sim-minutes, pause it, find the house where you want the other sims to be, and run the Add Sim command.
If the house you want them to live in already has sims in it, you should definitely go to Edit Town and evict them (and place them somewhere else if you want to keep them around). But then go back to live mode and let the game clock run a bit before using the MC command.

I only have nrass?
ymbcdriqlpzh What do you mean? If you mean you only see NRaas as an option, then that's how it's supposed to be. When I said click NRaas > MasterController > Add Sim, I meant click NRaas, and then click MasterController, and then click Add Sim. The options show up sequentially.
