"sims 3 has stopped working"

The sims 3 has stopped working means the game crashed. If you keep too many items or too many saves in your launcher it can crash the game or launcher. How many saves do you have in your launcher? I keep no more than 10. how much CC do you have? Are you using tools t make sure your CC is not bad to where it can corrupt the game?

I think its because of too many saves. So far, I don't have any cc. thanks! :)

They are a part of your TS3 game folder in Documents. If you don't have a "live" TS3 game folder with Downloads and saved games there, then possibly one has spawned in an unwanted place such as within OneDrive (and this could be part of your current problem).

I also suffer from that error. Some times, my game crashes without any specific action. It seems random. Some times I can play for 30 minutes, some times just 5 minutes. I don't quite understand it, because this PC is much better than the one with which I played TS3 back then.
- I've got very few CC items, and all are from The Store. No more than 30.
- I use NRaas mods, which for me are basic and I cannot play without them (thank you so much for these).
- My graphic card is updated.
- Game is updated to 1.69 and Nraas mods are the last ones available compatible with that game version.
- I reduced the game graphic features to "medium".
- I just have 2 or 3 saved games.
- Of course all games are original, I don't use fake copies or cracked ones.
- I cleaned background running apps and windows services to the minimum.
- DEP is configured to avoid this error with Launcher, LauncherW, TS3 and TS3W files.

I run out of possible things to do besides all these. Any sugestions?

@mcorral - There are many reasons why the game could be crashing. Does this happen with newly started (test) games as well or only your two or three ongoing ones?

Can we get the specs of the computer you are playing on? Processor, RAM, graphics card, hard drive (free space and health) all play a role. A full dxdiag report could give us what we need to make suggestions or rule out hardware related issues, pasted in here by sections as it would be far too long to fit into one reply or sent up to pastebin.com with a link provided so we can read it.

The PC was great 4 years ago when I bought it, maybe now it is outdated.

Answering to your questions:
- It happens with all saved games and new ones as well. I deleted The Sims 3 folder and started a new game and it happens too.
- I use these EPs:

Showtime
Generations
Island Paradise
Late Night
World Adventures

I also have the following but I could live without them:
Pets
¿University?

When I'm playing FPS shows values ranging from 200 to 500. Is that OK?

@mcorral - Your computers specs are fine for the entire game with all EPs, in fact way overkill for TS3. Is TS3 installed on C (the SSD) or one of the many other drives? Looks like one of the others just based on how much free space you have on each one.

And it's much stronger than the system I play on. I don't think I want to talk to you anymore. >:)

Yes, it's good that you already noted your wildly high fps rate. The refresh rate of your monitor, like most of ours, is 60 Hz (there are some that run higher, in some countries we've seen that the standard is slowly becoming 75 Hz). Your frame rate should never exceed 60 fps, the excess is the equivalent of digital noise that your monitor can never interpret and can lead to graphics glitches, screen tears, lag, crashes, and can ultimately burn out or damage your graphics card and system board. Unlike more modern games, TS3 has no built-in fps limiter and the more powerful graphics cards like yours can go crazy on it.

The usual tool to use is the built-in Nvidia Control Panel to set up a profile for the correct executable, that's TS3.exe for Patch 1.69 where it was TS3w.exe for 1.67 and below, and have vertical sync set to On or Adaptive. Note that vertical sync arranged this way only works when the game is in full-screen mode, not windowed. If the Control Panel does not keep things locked in or if you require windowed mode, we move onto a different tool, Nvidia Inspector. See @SimplyJen's illustrations here, under the two spoilers.

Also, you appear to have the Win 10 update that includes the Creators Update, as most do by now. The Update can get in the way of fps capping, among other things. Here are some tips to turn off its effects.

I suspect if you can get the fps under control, the game should perform much better especially if it did so in the past.

Thank you. The PC is 4 years old and I thought that it would be outdated now. Great to know that it still is good.

I downloaded the NVIDIA profile inspector and selected Vertical Sync => 1/2 Refresh Rate. Now fps are 60 maximum. I guess I can select all the other stuff packs and expansions and set the graphic settings to "High" again.

It's not solved yet. Yesterday I was in build mode and when I tried to place a fireplace using "restrictbuildbuyinbuildings off" so the back side of the fireplace were outside the partment, the game crashed. I tried several times with different fireplaces and it crashed. If I place the fireplace without that cheat, it doesn't happen. I tried to use "moveobjects on" and it happend as well.

So, it seems that the cheats "restrictbuildbuyinbuildings" and "moveobjects" trigger that error in my game. That's weird because I've been using those cheats a lot.

Could some patch be responsible for this issue? Is this a known issue?
