Sims 3 How to Make Pretty Sims

I have come a long LONG way in making better looking sims in Sims 3. I learned about this skin in one of the videos linked below and it made such a huge difference!

I feel like I might be able to find some more hairs that I like better. I need to learn more about meshes I think. The ones that I have now are acceptable to me for now.

I HATE the shiny clothes. I need to work on that.

What are your must-have CAS mods for the Sims 3?

These two videos were the ones that helped me the most.

Yes, default replacements go into the overrides folder whereas non-defaults go into regular packages.

I put default replacements in with the regular packages and they work just fine.

They can work in either one, I just prefer the overrides for replacements since it gives those mods priority over regular ones.

My mods folder is getting very large. I want to set it up the best way possible.

In about a week, I will remove my entire Sims 3 folder and start fresh. This is all practice.
  • I use Mango Smoothie as my default skin. It's very smooth ( as its name suggests ) and soft. This is it, on my sim Minnie.

As for the shiny overlay, this mod changed my sim life, if you haven't seen it before - Remove Stencils & Overlay by Velocitygrass

You can use it to remove the shiny specular from clothing and objects, as well as remove ugly unwanted stencils on the same. SO MANY more outfit pieces and objects became more usable in game because of this mod, it is a godsend.

Thanks! I installed Mango Smoothie as a non-default skin and changed my current Sim to this skin. I am going to leave the default skin as Kurasoberina HDPlus.

I am still figuring out how to make the stencil remover work. I knew that I had heard of something to remove the shine from the clothes. Thanks for the link!

    Your Minnie is beautiful!

I found an excellent video tutorial series for this mod. I am posting it in case any other newbies are following this thread. It really helped me.

  • Oh for hairs I love S-club and Leahlillith on TSR, and I also use Mango smoothie (non-default though) and it’s one of my fave skin overlays.

I am spending quite a bit of time on hairs today. Somehow I missed the leahlillith ones. Thanks!
