Sims 3 [Video & Machinima] Stuttering, Jerky playback on PSE timeline

Particulars:

VP6 and H.264 codecs installed.
H.264 video capture sizes exceedingly small.
When video files; either coded VP6 or H.264 are dropped into the timeline the video playback stutters and skips as well as jumps back and repeats sections.

Anyone who creates videos and machinima know why this is happening?

Would like to do all my editing in one video editor but it looks like that’s impossible until I get this problem sorted out.

Right now I’m tossing my video capture files into MovieMaker and ironing out the jerking before adding it to the PSE14 timeline.

1) Are there any settings in both the Sims 3 game and in PSE14 that I need to change in order to get a better quality video and large enough file size to work with?

2) Is there any way to eliminate the jerky, stuttering playback on my PSE14 timeline?

Would like to start a Apocalyptic Legacy video series but this problem in interfering with a smooth efficient workflow to get the episodes out.

So it's only in the movie timeline? It's not showing up in the game?
  • The game runs fine, the movies when I hit V to record: when I transfer the files over to PSE14 to edit them, the playback when editing is jerky and stutters.

You're using recorder built in to Sims 3? It's always been a mess for me. I recommend OBS. It's a free video capture program, works much better and has more options.
  • I’m seriously considering OBS since it’s free but need to know if it’s possible to not have the user interface for TS3 show up in the captures.

Yes, just hit F10. Also tab will take you into movie making mode which will hide the mouse, the interface and allow you to get the camera more where you want it with q, e, w, s, d and a keys. There are more but those are the ones I use the most. Do you know about moviemakercheatsenabled true? It’s a cheat to turn off sims heads looking around and autonomous actions.
  • I’ve heard of moviemakercheatsenabled true though it’s been a while since I’ve used it. And I figure that For shots where the actors (sims) have to move. I’ll preset them up with queued commands and hit F10 or tab? Because for the apocalyptic legacy there will be lot of motion scenes.

I guess for those I can still use OBS to record that.

Yes, set up your commands or animations then go into tab mode, and hit F10. Or just hit F10 but be sure your mouse pointer is out of the frame!
