OH! You're moving the wrong joint if that happens. You need to probably click this weird little joint that's behind it. A lot of times you need to click like every joint, move it, if it's wrong un-do it and click another one.... I've been making poses for 4 years and half the time I can't freakin' click the right joint.

It's a joint that's by the hip if you wanna move the leg to the front or side, I think...
And sometimes you have to rotate your view point to get it to move properly. So find the joint near the hip (or maybe it IS the hip joint) and try that.
