SOLVED [My family disappears whenever I try traveling! Is there a fix to this!? Please Help!]

So, this is the first time I've ever experienced this glitch... and I have no idea why or how it's happening.

I've been playing this save file for a couple weeks now. I haven't experienced any major bugs until now... I recently tried making my family take a trip to France. Everything goes normally... until I finally arrive. When I get there, none of the family members are there. They're not even on the user interface at all. I can't do anything either. Time still progresses, but I have absolutely no way of accessing any of my Sims, their inventories, their motives... NOTHING at all!

I've tried so many things as an attempt to fix this issue... I tried changing households before traveling (still didn't work). I tried resetting them (before and after traveling)... still didn't work. I even tried changing households IN France... and that didn't work either. I also tried emptying my Sims' inventories before traveling... didn't work.

Does anyone have a solution to this problem? Has anyone else ever had this happen to them?

Another thing you might consider is if you computer has the power to handle the game. Posting in the Sims 3 Technical Section might help.

I'll give @igazor a shout to see if he knows anything that could help. He know tech plus NRAAS.
  • What is being described is a travel transition failure, and yes they are very common. It's not just WA where these happen, any kind of travel (Uni World, Oasis Landing, custom destination travel with mods) can produce these.

If not averse to using mods, NRaas Traveler (together with Overwatch and ErrorTrap) works very hard to prevent these from happening.

Without mods, all we can do is relieve as much stress on the game as possible, try again, hope for the best and hope they don't get stuck in the vacation world later unable to transition back home (be sure to have at least a couple of saves to revert to regardless).
-- Do not be logged in at the Launcher or in-game levels before travel
-- Turn ALL of the graphics options down the their bare ugly minimums and switch off the checkbox for Advance Rendering (this will all look horrible, but they can be set back again after a safe arrival)
-- Attempt travel only after having freshly started up the game from the desktop or Origin, which you would have to do after altering those graphics settings anyway

Or all of those plus the mods would usually be sufficient to get them through. If all else fails, there might be something wrong with the instance of Champs les Sims (France) in this one ongoing game even if it has never been played in before, but we can fix that if need be if none of the above helps.
  • @igazor and @Karritz

Thank you both for your input on this situation. I appreciate the help!

I just ended up downloading the NRaas Traveler mod to fix the issue and it worked perfectly! Thank you!

I hope you enjoy your Traveler mod. It has totally changed the way I play the game.
  • The same thing was happening to me with universities back then when I was playing TS3. Didn't know that there was a fix for that. Wish I knew that before.

I'm definitely looking forward to using places like 'Sunlit Tides' and 'Starlight Shores' as vacation destinations now!

I love using the Traveler mod as we can pets with us on vacation. I created Scooby-Doo and the Gang sometime ago and couldn't take Scooby to the WA worlds with the gang until I got the mod and changed it to allow pets to go with the family... :)

In my Big Game I have hundreds of sims living in many different worlds. Lots of fun but I need a spreadsheet to keep track of them all.

I've had this happen before. There is a Bug Thread for World Adventures and I'm sure it will be spoken about there. I have NRAAS Traveler mod now to stop this sort of thing from happening.
