Strictly Hypothetical Question

I had Sims3 still installed on my game. I was told, after I uninstalled it, that if I wanted to avoid updates that will make moot my NRaas, Industry mods, there was a way to go about it. Now, I have not abandoned my Sims4 game, but I have to confess the songs from the Singer Sim career in Sims 3 are haunting me. So, can anyone tell me how I can reinstall (I have all of the disks) the Sims 3 game to bypass the updates? I know I can simply access it through Origin, but like I said my game needs the mods I installed.

Please, and thank you, in advance.
  • LOL :D I know the feeling the singer career songs are some kind of Psy Op you cant ever shake.Never in my life would I ever imagine knowing the words to ten different songs in a made up language.

If you have the pre 2012 disk version of the base game you can install it but don't choose to install the manager. I forget it's exact name now but it was the forerunner to Origin. That means you can launch your game without using the launcher. Otherwise you can just download from Origin. The Origin version is 1.69. The 2009 version is patch 1.67.

The only thing about the NRAAS mods is Error Trap. It checks the version number on launch and if you have the wrong version number (1.69 or 1.67 not earlier versions) then Error trap will tell you the version is wrong. But it will still work if you've patched to 1.67 or 1.69. When they tied Sims 3 to Origin they just made it so you have to have Origin open before you can launch the game. They didn't change anything else that was affected by the mods. So all of your other NRAAS mods will still work. Just choose the appropriate version for Error Trap.

I hope this makes sense. Let me know if you need further clarification.
  • @Karritz is correct, all of our mods work exactly the same on either Patch level, 1.67 or 1.69/Origin except for the two Core Mods -- ErrorTrap has a variant for each patch level, and UntranslatedKey is currently only for 1.67 but that one is really for developers.

We also have Mod Installation Help forum board for those who require further assistance. :)
