JMJ had the challenge rules as guidelines. This isn't a competition or anything. It's supposed to be fun and yes there is a lil work involved, but designating whether or not we are following the rules to the letter doesn't need to be announced. Some people started the challenge before the new rules came out, so there is going to be a few differences in where people are with it.
People have different Ideas about this. Some like to follow the challenge to the letter and others use it as a jumping off point for their own ideas keeping some of the "rules" and adding a few of their own. As for me, because I like the idea so much I've kept nearly all of the "rules" and tweeked it just a little bit.
On another note
:idea:I had a random thought this afternoon(Australian time) about how to populate my town. After reading some of the posts I thought I would share it.

RECIPE FOR FINDING A MATE WITH A LIMITED SELECTION POOL
Ingredients:INCREASE YOUR SOCIAL NETWORKING SKILL.
The Social Networking skill is the key ingredient to this recipe. (I’ll have to get Beth to bring home the set of Social Networking Skill books from Uni – It’s not on my tablet :( )
Lvl 4 – Sim Finding App: Find the perfect friend or Spouse/Partner. Set the age, gender, star sign and traits to get the perfect mate or life-long friend. You could set the appropriate age and a few traits or just the age and random roll the rest (I know a lot of simmers prefer this  ). After your done the new sim comes to where-ever your sim may be. (NB it doesn’t have to be the target sim that finds this person. As long as the target is in the same area and ready to begin building their relationship)
COMPATIBLE STAR SIGNS
Sims with compatible star signs get along really well together which makes building a relationship easier. (May also increase the speed with which their relationship grows. Not sure :? )
Aries: Leo, Sagittarius, Gemini and Aquarius
Taurus: Virgo, Capricorn, Cancer, and Pisces
Gemini: Libra, Aquarius, Aries and Leo
Cancer: Scorpio, Pisces, Taurus and Virgo
Leo: Aries, Sagittarius, Gemini and Libra
Virgo: Cancer, Taurus, Capricorn and Scorpio
Libra: Gemini, Leo, Sagittarius, and Aquarius
Scorpio: Cancer, Pisces, Capricorn, and Virgo
Sagittarius: Leo, Aries, Libra and Aquarius
Capricorn: Virgo, Taurus, Scorpio, and Pisces
Aquarius: Libra, Gemini, Sagittarius and Aries
Pisces: Scorpio, Capricorn, Cancer and Taurus
BUILDING AND MAINTAINTING RELATIONSHIPS
Smooth Conversations and Being a Good Host:Keep an eye on the bar that appears in the top left corner of your screen when you interact with another Sim. If you see negative words like “awkward” “boring” and “creepy” stop what you’re doing immediately(unless you want to create an arch enemy  ). These types of reactions have a negative impact on your relationship. If you see positive words like “Interesting” or “Flirty” keep going, these interactions are improving your relationship.
Paying attention to the other Sim’s thought/Conversation bubbles is also a good idea. You can find out what they’re interested in and what they don’t like (traditional red circle with line through it). If a moodlet icon pops up try to meet it. For example if your chatting to another sim and you see the full bladder icon, stop talking and let them go relieve themselves. If you’re playing chess and you see “I’m hungry” or worse “I’m starving” stop and feed them. If they’re tired, send them home. (If you’re the one visiting or you’re on a date use your common sense and consideration to try and see their needs are met. Quite often other Sims don’t see to their own urgent needs  , but at least you have given them the opportunity)
Friends and Lovers: I recommend you don’t try any romantic interactions until you have reached the Best Friend status in your relationship. Trying any earlier may result in a negative reaction, undoing all your hard work.
Group Outings and Dates: I’ve found that the combination of a nice chat, a good meal and participating in a fun activity usually results in a good group outing. Add a few romantic interactions if your Sim is on a date. (you can also stay in. :D Just invite someone over and click on them and select "form Group".)To end your "outing" click on your sim and select "disband group" and say goodbye (if out and about) or ask them to leave (when your at home). (NB they may leave on their own) If your companion works find out what their hours are, better yet when their day off is. (I’ve had a nice date planned only to have my romantic interest leave a few minutes after arriving to go to work, resulting in a bad date :( ) After having a friendly chat and asking them what they do for a living I suggest you visit “Carl’s Guide” and do some research**. He has a comprehensive list of Professions and Careers.
(**NB this information can also be helpful in finding out what you need to do to get that promotion!! )
Throwing A Party: Make sure there is food out, music playing and you have a few group activities available. Try to talk to as many of your guests as possible. (I limit my guest list to just a few) If your party is based around an event (birthday, wedding) make sure the event happens or your guests will go home disappointed. If you decided to have your party at a community lot, be sure to find out their business hours and plan your guests’ arrival and departure times accordingly. It won’t do for them to turn up only to find the location is closing in a few minutes. (Or worse yet Closed!! :( )
Maintaining Your Relationships: Interact on a regular basis with the other Sims who reside in your home. Making time each day to text or email the other people in your relationships list keeps their bar around the same level. Occasionally chatting or visiting with them stops your relationship from decaying. This can be helpful when you are building your Charisma Skills (increasing levels requires knowing and having friendships with a certain amount of people. Go to “Carl’s Guide” and look up Charisma Skill for more details)
Method: Find your Sim and build your relationship as quickly as possible until they are happy to move in with you. Then build your relationship as normal from Romantic Interest to Spouse/Partner.
:D Chef’s Tip: The ingredients of this recipe can be used to build and maintain any kind of relationship.See Below for a link to "Carl's Guide"-Its Full of all sorts of useful information.
