You can play any family from the original bloodline. They can be living anywhere. The "leaving someone behind" rule applies to upgrading your home. Iv'e noticed most simmers leave the Heir in the house with their parents and move the "excess" kids out. I plan on doing this too.
In the original rules the General Store was allowed. JMJ has Reviewed them since then.
I left a fishing spot (living of the land) instead. Which I also use as a place to go off the home lot to prevent "stir Crazy" moodlet which occurs when they stay home all the time :wink: Technically it's not allowed, but the only other way to get rid of the moodlet is to cheat :)
