I did start already anyhow, and placed a store. It's been a while since I have played, which might account for my brain going empty world = devoid of all, ie: I forgot about seed spawners (even though the rules mentioned them, I know). D'oh.
Will check out the town for them later (I downloaded a blank Moonlight Falls, I believe it still has some spawners, my sims haven't really been out, as they are chained to the garden all day!), and take away the general store & ill-gotten bubble bath from them while I am at it.
It's fun so far even if all they seem to do in a day is tend to their needs & garden & take care of their various animals. Not letting the poor things go to uni either, they'll have to make a gen2 for that :).
That's perfectly understandable a ton of new people who have joined us since the rules have changed and only read the earlier forums get confused. The older rules are on the site if you would like to check them out. We also have a thread on the forum of empty worlds if you don't mind could you post it on there? Or here so I could? There is a lot of tips and hints on the site to help do as much as you can with as little as you have. I'll leave the link here in case you would like to look at it
Edit if your sim has the gather trait spawners will appear on your lot usually everything but seeds but they appear at times as well
