@kloving:
As I thought, I missed the point altogether. I don't remember seeing that in the rules, mind you I only skimmed them to see if I would be interested in trying the challenge myself. I've been thinking bout it since my last post.
With the information you posted and my limited knowledge of the game so far, I've put together a few notes on how to proceed. Let me know what you think.
1. Take you time and build slowly. I think it would be better to have your founder/heir wait until the 2nd week of Adulthood to have children, instead spend the time trying to meet the goals for promotion and improving performance for their jobs and searching for a spouse/partner with some of the traits you would like for the next heir. (If I read the rules right you can't just make another sim and plop them in but have to find a future mate from among the sims in the town.) I'm thinking it would be better to limit the first few Generations to 1 child and focus on building the home.
2. Find your Sims a money making hobby if the tasks they need to complete for their job don't bring in money, (E.g, painting, writing books) You need to outlay money for supplies for woodwork or painting, but you make a profit off the end product, the amount depends on the quality of that product. Gardening is a full time job in its self, and is a better choice for a stay-at-home or retired sim. It is better to collect the fruit and vegetables from the wild plants around the neighbourhoods if you want fresh ingredients for you cooking. Collecting all of the other collectables is another good way to make money. But sending away gems to get minerals will cost.
3. Make good use of the BBQ areas, bathroom facilities and skill building items scattered round the community. You can evens sleep on sofas and benches if needed. All You will need on your lot to begin with is a bed, a toilet and a fridge.
4. Make buying equipment needed to carry out tasks related to your sims job a priority. The easier it is to get a promotion, the quicker your sim will make more money. Also make use of the items you receive as rewards at different levels of your career. They may be equipment or decorations that give off an aura related to your job. When you can, build a room and fill it with these items. With all the items auras switched on you should receive a massive boost to the speed at which the relevant skills build. If you have access to the award plumbs given for having Expansion packs for Sims 3, grab the ones that give off the aura related to your sims job as soon as possible.
5. Do your homework. Once you've rolled your child's trait and aspiration, select a job they will enhance and start building the skills needed for it, which will make advancement up the career ladder easier later on.

***Keeping fit is pretty easy in Sims 4. Even the most time poor sim can fit in a quick work out. Just click on your sim and have them go for a jog round the neighbourhood. If your sim is energised, click on a spot near by to have them do push ups, sit ups and stretches.
