If its too easy then make someone who's not so easy: Neurotic, Insane, Slob, Unlucky, Couch Potato
That would make it harder...
Some of the "negative" traits can be surprisingly positive, though.
Slob for instance, which doesn't immediately clean up unless you prompt them - but who don't get the negative moodlets for trash and grime and clutter, which would actually be a pretty good bonus if you're just starting your house and trying to juggle skilling, gardening or whatever, a new job, romancing... and don't have time for little things like cleaning.
Neurotic lets Sims briefly "freak out" which gives them a positive moodlet, and I think wipes out stress (I'm not 100% sure on that one).
I haven't played really with the other ones yet, although I know that Unlucky Sims can be revived by the Grim Reaper for his own amusement if they'd have what would normally be a fatal accident. I don't know if that'd balance out other negative affects from it.
I hear grumpy is a truly punishing trait that makes getting promotions difficult, especially in the absence of any other job-boosting traits such as ambitious, workaholic, schmoozer and brave (for police/military).
Hot-headed is another trait that seems to be a negative with no real genuine positive benefit.
I'm playing with unlucky as my family trait. So far it has kept me from doing much cooking given the constant fires...but grimmy did take pity on my founder when he electrofried himself trying to fix the dishwasher.
