Sim days are always easier when the kids are at school! LOL
I find watching the kids going into school can cause problems. I don't check on my sim kids until after 9 to make sure they got in. If I watch the school they often don't go in without the action cancelling many times.
These days I always make sure there's at least two schools in my town but I have seen more than 30 kids get into a single school in one save as long as I kept the camera away from the school while they were doing it.

Aren't mods wonderful? Too many pets can cause a game to bog down but with mods you can control everything :) In my short life save I am only allowing townie families 2 kids each and it's keeping the population in good shape for a long term save :)

I stopped putting a MA Academy in my towns long ago because I would find some sims would never leave it and I often got error messages about them.
