The Sims 3 DLC

Hello, so my question is, with the new linked system of EA and Steam, if I buy a dlc for The Sims 3 on EA, can I play it on Steam since I have all my other dlc there? Has anyone tested this since you an link ea and steam now? Is the only option to activate my dlc from steam to EA? Another question is, if I do activate it all on EA (with cd keys provided by steam), can I still play it all on steam if I wanted to? Also, do I need to restart my game if I move to EA? Sorry I know I have lots of questions, thank you!

  • @hipuks  You can't use any EA-owned content in Steam, even with your accounts linked.  You'd need to install Sims 3 through the EA App in order to access that content.

You can however register all your Steam-owned content with EA and use that content in either Steam or the EA App, or both.  I bought everything through Steam and have both types of installs.  My accounts are not linked, which is not a necessary step, and I'd actually suggest avoiding doing so (if you haven't already) just to keep things simple.

You can freely transfer saves between the two types of installs.  The only important detail is that whatever expansions the save has used in one install also need to be present in the other install, or the save can and will be corrupted.  Stuff packs don't make a difference other than the missing or replaced items.
