Triggering a specific opportunity

Is there a way to trigger a specific opportunity?
More specifically, the "It's a living" ooportunity. I know that I can't advance my writing skill over level 5, But I didn't get that opportunity in the past 15 weeks...

I barely get opportunities that are not celebrity related, so if there a way to increase the rate of skill opportunities it will also help me a lot...

  • I don't think it was the EP itself that broke the opportunities, because I didn't buy ITF until long after it came out, but I was having the same issue ever since the ITF update.

And... is there a way to fix it? Do I have to use a mod for that?

That was what I was remembering as well, for the same reason.

Can I use NRAAS to delete all of my other skill, just to check if in a case where I only got writing skill I would get that opportunity?

Will that affect future opportunities badly? Meaning, if I have completed a skill opportunity and regained that skill, will that confuse the game?

And about the mod that fixes theIFT bug, how can I know if it affects my game? Again, a bit scared of using new mods...

I don't think so. My sense is that when the sim regains their skills that have been reduced to 0, they will still have credit for the opps they completed prior. But again, you could test this out on a copy of your saved game if you don't want to risk anything at all to the "real" one you wish to play forward.

Now I see that the bug fixing version is only for when ITF is installed as per the developer's notes, otherwise it will have no effect. But they also offer a More Opp Phone Call variant that requires the base game only. That kind of mod can't truly break anything unless you have another mod that tries to change the exact same game resource at the same time. But regardless, it would be totally removable if it produces unwanted results.
