Trouble Installing Worlds (IMPORTANT)

I play both the Sims 3 and 4 for a while and have all expansions (save for into the future) but only recently did I purchase a few of the extra pre made worlds.....namely Monte Vista, Hidden Springs and Roaring Heights. I have been following the instructions to install them, as I have done with store content or exchange content before, but this is truly baffling me. I did get Hidden Springs to come up and load once (only to disappear on me again) and have had no luck at all so far with MV or RH. I have only just notice there is a download board o th main menu prior to the I was only ware of the launcher download store content and up unti then had been adding any content either by EA or fellow gamers via that. Another new phenomena I noticed was that because I tried using the main menu installer too (maybe?) the worlds were duplicating themselves so I was getting a 1 or 2 appear after the duplicates. I found this bug spread to items I had purchased from the store at a similar time. I do have mods installed.....would it help if I moved to deactivate them when I try again to install the new content? While I enjoy Sims 4, the Open World and other aspects of the Sims 3 would make i hard for me to live without in the long time....I enjoy and experience both games as being different experiences and different games, rather than one being an upgrade to the other. The Open Worlds would be hard to live without, but then it's annoying not being able to travel to them. There are pluses and minuses as most seem to agree....most found it a big let down there were no horse on S4 and I have to agree. I could go on and on but I'll leave it at that for now, you know what the issue is. It is worth adding that I do have mods installed, will this have made much of a difference to this problem? As it is I am very frustrated, as according to the launcher they normally say installed, but that is not the case when I try to start a new game with any of those worlds.

Your time in helping me with this matter will be appreciated, thank you

Elizabeth

  • Your mods probably have nothing to do with this issue—their presence doesn't influence how store content is installed. What it sounds like is that you have one or more corrupt files in your Sims 3 user data folder (the one in Documents\Electronic Arts).
The issue could be the .ebc files in DCCache, which are bundled store content; or something else in the Sims 3 folder. Rather than sorting through all those files, sometimes the easiest approach is to install your store content from scratch and then add in the other content you'd like to keep.

On the other hand, that might be a lot more work than you want to do. There are also ways to only reinstall the problem content and combine it with what you already have, although that's a bit more complicated and often doesn't work as well. Let me know which approach you'd prefer.
