Trouble with 'Sims 3 stopped working' and Error code 12s

Just to update here for those following along, we've taken this to PMs and solved the unrecognized card and texture memory override issues. OP has concluded that the over 370 tourists who have been stuck in her homeworld for real time years and are unable to age up were adding too much stress to that ongoing game (seems perfectly reasonable) and is taking steps to remove them by way of mods. :)
