Vacation House Ownership?

Is vacation house ownership tied to the household or to a sim with Visa Level 3?

Lets say the father with visa level 3 bought the house and then died and/or is no longer part of the household, if their son visit France, will he be treated as the owner of the house or the ownership is gone?
  • The ownership should be tied to the household, not to the sim. The only way to lose a vacation home should be if the last remaining member of the household dies and its assets are then liquidated.

Thank you, i used to always bring the father whenever i want my sims to visit france just because i thought the vacation house was tied to him.

And all this time he thought his family just wanted him around because they liked him...(living or dead, that part wasn't very clear). :)

@igazor - Out of curiosity, does that mean vacation property can be handed down to future descendants of the Sim (household) which purchased it.

If you mean descendants as in children, grandchildren, etc. still living in the same world generations later with a formal household that survives the ages, then yes. Or at least this is how it works on my end as I would expect it to and I don't really think it's the mods that are doing this. Those descendants are paying property tax for the vacation homes that great great grandpa (or whoever) established, so they should certainly still get to use them.

But if you mean ITF descendants discoverable in Oasis Landing, then no because they aren't actually of the same household.

The father I mentioned is the one in my profile picture, of course they love him! lol. but really i was planning the france to be a honeymoon place for when the son need to travel with his wife after they were getting married, it just feels awkward if he brings the father.

Well, my version of France has a casino placed in it. I think this still works. Father and son go off to the casino every day, all day, and expect dinner to be on the table when they get back to the vacation home. "Real" dinner, not cheese plates nor food laced with amphibian legs and mollusks. New bride/ daughter-in-law finds a way to get even. She's pregnant when the trip is over. Everyone is very polite about it, of course, but they cannot help but notice how much the baby ends up looking just like the Champs Les Sims Marketplace Special Merchant.

This isn't the storyline you had in mind? ;)

With ITF, it's already a struggle to keep the house a specific sim bought himself. At least I got "my" house taken away once in order to house some ITF descendants. Without compensation.
