I started playing the Sims 3 again recently (actually I have gone back and played all the versions a little) but I see red, yellow and maybe green? borders around some of the sims in my relationship panel. I seem to recall maybe the yellow ones are magical sims perhaps? But do the red borders mean enemies? Or romances? I forget.
FlamingoKicker All these borders refer to different occult types. I believe red means vampire, yellow is witch and green is fairy.
There is probably also a border for werewolves, but I can't tell you what color it is as I have vampires and werewolves disabled in my games.
I think someone said brown is for werewolves which makes sense? It is so difficult and challenging to play all four versions of the sims at the same time jumping back and forth and trying to remember all the tricks to each one.
