I generally dislike a lot of expansion traits, just because for some dumb reason, no sim can learn them! So your partner for life forever has ???? on the trait list, due to EA bugs. Nraas mods havent fixed it either.
Other issues with expansion traits is that many are just ' I do this one skill/career better than others' , without really unlocking new socials or behaviours.
Just to point out some of the real bad ones. Negative traits are great as they actually give personality to sims, like people being utterly terrified of water, being needlessly cruel for the hell of it, or just simply mucking up everyday moments.
Other issues with expansion traits is that many are just ' I do this one skill/career better than others' , without really unlocking new socials or behaviours.
- Perceptive sims mostly have a wasted slot if they arent Investigators plus 'Your Sim will learn traits of other Sims more quickly through socializing' is useless due to above bug where most expansion traits cannot be learned.
- Savvy Sculptors are one-dimensional sculpting gods, and I beleive they cannot get sculpting items from 'lucky failures', nor can you get amusing things like headless statues, so its a 'perfection or nothing' trait.
- Photographer's Eye is another one-dimensional trait, but at least it has its own socials. Not a single premade sim has this trait either, so you have to go out of your way to make a cameraman to ever use it.
- Loves the Cold/Loves the Heat are redundant due to reward traits from lifetime happiness, they do almost nothing. Sims 4 later made this kind of trait a hidden trait, instead of a full one.
- Adventurous basically locks you into running off to the vacation destinations constantly and has no use in everyday life.
