What kind of books do you write?

I like trashy novels,cause the titles I choose make me laugh.Favorite Genre is comic books since they don't make a ton of money.Like you do sequels but to my best selling ones only.

Who knows maybe yours will be a bestseller and lead to Where's my sock 3 the Movie :o


In my dirty mind something about writing a Trashy Novel book called "Toy Story" makes me giggle.

I'm terrible at book names... Wish I could be more creative. Currently, the heir in my game picked up writing as a hobby. She's going to focus on Drama, Trashy, and Romance but I need to come up with some good titles.

I tend to let the game itself name the first book in what will be a series, but then I get carried away with the sequels. Sort of like the OP and their sock stories. So if the game names the first book "What She Said," the next few will end up with titles like
"What He Said"
"What They Both Said"
"What They Never Meant to Say"
"What Everyone Thinks They Said"
"What They Shouldn't Have Said"
"Prolegomena to Any Future Metaphysics" (just for some variety)
"What Everyone Else Says About What They Meant to Say But Never Did"
"You Don't Say!"
etc.

Edit: (smacks head) Of course, I forgot the crowning masterpiece of this series.

Then I snicker when the NRaas WrittenWord mod puts these titles up for sale at the local bookstore. Who would buy this garbage on purpose? :p

I have an Evil Elf merman (he’s premade as an elf in Dragon Valley and the game also made him a merman so I stuck with it :D ) who writes horror novels when he isn’t busy with his snowcone addiction or tending to his brood of alien/merman crossbreed children.

Mostly he writes books like...The Silence of the Llamas, The Krakening, Silence of the Gnomes...I forget the other names I came up with. I haven’t played my game in months and need to pick up my simming habit again

I made a quick pop into my game and saw that the next book he was writing was called The Silence of the Duckies?
Apparently I have no imagination for clever horror names. :p

After River was abducted TWICE by aliens. She sat down to write a book called: (wait for it...)

"Re****-Probed By Aliens: (You're Going To Put WHAT WHERE?!!!)"

One of my other sims (from an old save wrote) "My Sister's Fiance Got Probed By Aliens"

Yeah...I need help.

Wow, everyone has such fun with titles. I've never bothered—I just name the books sequentially with the sim's name, as in C-one, C-two, etc. I could make the argument that it's more efficient to keep track of things that way, but really I'm just too lazy to put in the effort.

As to what types of books my sims write, I mix it up a lot. Abot half the spares write children's books, with the child learning painting through the toddler skill books to get a head start. The others are writers because they'll go into journalism, so they write four of each type of book starting with the shortest in order to get their count up without specializing. They switch to articles when they hit level 3 in their career. I know it's boring, but like I said, they're spares and will be out of the house very soon.

For the sims I keep, I either drive up the book total to get to masterpieces, or I make a hopeless romantic so she (always she) can write romance novels starting at writing level six instead of ten. I had one female a while back who had six kids by seven different fathers (okay, not quite) and was always looking to write about whoever she'd brought home the night before. She made a lot of money, too. I think her name was Veronica.

When Baby Doll retired as an athlete I had her write a book entitled Tales From the Locker Room which is a micky take on a famous cricketing book, Tales from the Long Room. Baby's son Blake is a writer and he writes a lot of sci-fi, famously the Zomboid series, Zomboids from Outer Space, Zomboids in Love, the kind of thing Harry Harrison would have written. With apologies to Harry Harrison.

One of my favourites is The Mean Streets of Sunset Valley, an examination of the sleazy underbelly of the town which few decent citizens are aware of. Written by Christopher Steel after he retired as a secret agent and former cop.

That reminds me, I definitely need to install that one.
I think that it would be hilarious if one of my books turned up somewhere even after the Sim that wrote it is long gone.

There was also the parent of 12 who wrote books in his "spare" time when the kids were asleep and there were no emergencies at the hospital for him to tend to. Some titles along the way:

"The Famous Five"
"With Seven You Get Egg Roll"
"Nine is Enough!"
"Cheaper by the Dozen (Minus One)"

I forget what the finale was after # 12 arrived. Probably something like "That's it, I Think We're Done Here" but by then there were also grandchildren all over the place.
