- I have way more babies in my games than I have elders, however they don't stay babies for long and I dont do much with them except make sure they're fed and clean. Meanwhile, I actually make elders do stuff and they stick around longer.

@Cororon I feel like baby and toddler are the shortest irl anyways. I think baby is like 0-2 and toddler is like 2-4-maybe5, then you're a kid, so it seems reasonable that those two would be short.
I play on Epic, but I've set those two life stages to 2-3 days. Child, Teen, Young Adult and Adult are set on Max, and Elder somewhere in the middle.

I have the child life stage on max, so it's... 150 days? It's only the baby and toddler stages that I have set to 2-3 days. - xxnearlyperfectx8 years agoNew Ace

Good time to get their skills up - There are a few elders in my town but they almost never part of my active household.
- suzses8 years agoSeasoned AceNeed to say right away to avoid giving any developers wrong idea (too late): ALL the life stages are IMPORTANT to me to have in my game, whether I play them a long time or enjoy them or whatever. You've all already covered babies pretty well. I play them the shortest period of time and want to get on with things (like full night's sleep for the adult sims).
You didn't ask which we find most annoying, but that has something to do with how long I play other stages. After babyhood, of course, we're heading right into toddlerhood, which I also tire of rather quickly. The toddlers are cute but take up a lot of time to train, etc. If my sims have gotten them trained, and I don't for some reason age them up right afterwards (I'm aging with birthday cakes), then it's OK with me to leave them as trained toddlers for quite a while if it fits in with something else I'm doing with the family.
I like kids. They're somewhat helpful, pretty well take care of themselves, and I like some of their play activities (NOT including the two things where they are constantly running around dressed silly - I'm not in game and can't think what to call those right at the moment. Any kid who does that much finds themselves spinning into teenhood rather quickly. Need to look at modding that stuff out . . .). Anyway, then there are teens, which for me are the second least liked life stage, so I get that over with as quickly as I can. It's the moods thing and the pranks that bug me to death (yet another thing I should mod). They also look really dorky in Sims 3, and I'm interested in seeing what they'll be like all grown up. So, they get to A's in school, a prom night, and then they have a birthday. They can learn to drive on their own. :p
Young adults are great to play - lots going on there. Even though the name of the stage doesn't imply it to me IRL, I think of this stage as lasting until 40's. The appearance changes for the adult stage suggest middle age, so I think of it that way. There's still plenty of things for adults to be doing. They're fine. If I'm attached to my YA/adult sims, then I also play them a lot as elders and have really learned to enjoy them. If I'm not so attached, then they're probably living off by themselves, and they may not see much active game play (actually, that could be the same with adult if I've tired of a particular sim). - > @TadOlson said:

that is terribly clever. I don't think I could handle some of those lengths, although they are substantially more realistic spans than the game offers. but a whole month of my Sim being preggers and having to pee all the time and getting exhausted easily and unable to participate in any physical activity? no sir. I like my Sims to be doing things other than cooking buns in the oven. - Anmirla8 years agoSeasoned AceEven though infant is the stage many like the least, I would hope the devs would't look at this poll and think "maybe we should skip this stage in the next iteration".
It's still necessary to keep the flow going and there are some that enjoy this stage so I wouldn't want to see it taken from them. Just keep going with the ability to age the baby at any time.
