Your sim can meet someone new any time, if that's the direction you want to go. But I think it's more likely to turn out badly if you go with the hospital *opportunity* seeing as you aren't in a position to anticipate, much less control, the reactions of your sim's boss and coworkers. Yeah, it could get messy. I don't know what to do thought, I want some drama but then I don't want to spoil it.
