The way the romantic system is handled in the Sims 3 is the reason I downloaded my first mod from Nraas.
That was after I discovered, that the lifetime reward "no jealousy" is broken. I just wanted to play a game of four consenting adult sims living together and... well. The reward doesn´t work with the attraction system that was introduced with generations.
I was pretty upset at that point, enough to break my "no mods" mindset (I´m actully very happy about that now). So I downloaded the mod that shall not be named and played the game I wanted to play by setting jelousy to "none". The "no jelousy" reward actually helps a little bit in that case, because with only the mod, the sims still show signs of discomfort (in their thought bubbles and face expressions), when everyone has the reward there are none.
I do not think, sims (or RL people for that matter) shouldn´t feel and express jealousy if there is a real reason for it, but a sim divorcing their significant other on their own because the other one kissed someone else on their highschool ball is just plain ridiculous.
On the other hand, the attraction system and the resulting jelousy can be pretty entertaining, but on this scale, I want to decide how my sims react.
