Witches are kind of lame in The Sims 3

I used to be a huge fan of the Supernatural expansion for The Sims 3, but after going back to play with it... the supernatural states were either done better in the past, done better in the future, or was just straight up not fun at all. Vampires got the worst of it in Sims 3, with the not dying by sunlight and the Twilight sparkles in Supernatural, ugh.

But I always found witches to be the most fun... at least, until most recently. Is it just me who thinks they don't have that much to them compared to the way magic users are in the other games? I feel like most of the spells are either useless or are just not that interesting. I want my mind to be changed on this, so please tell me if I'm just being crazy and witches are actually awesome or if they really are underwhelming in Sims 3?

I don't exactly have the best idea which parts to go into more detail about, but I will try to explain any questions as best as I can. Thank you!

  • I enjoy all the supernaturals in the Sims 3. Could they have been better? Yes, they could. It is what it is. I play with what's available in the game resources to extend what my sim supernaturals can do, mods, my imagination, and poses. I probably play a lot differently than you do so I don't need to rely on the sim doing things. I make them do what I want. Have fun playing your sims and see what you can do with what's in the game and your imagination. Hunt out mods if you want or poses. Write the stories you want. Don't rely on the game to write it for you.
  • "Why can't include occults in every pack?" ignores that occults could be extremely shallow and it's silly to believe that the TS3 dev cycle never ever included cutting corners (even if packs on the whole were mostly great). That being said I wouldn't class TS3 witch spells as useless but it's a lot of grinding for what's essentially a bunch of repackaged cheats (motive filling, instant love, instant upgrades, resurrection) and some actual fun mischief too. What makes me more sad is shoving everything else fun about being a witch into expensive store sets. Of course I bought the voodoo doll/cauldron/crystal ball/spellbook during one sale or another but I get to complain.

I agree with this immensely. When I saw the complete list of spells and elixirs, I thought: "All this can be done with the simplest cheats?" They should have had some spells that could actually manipulate the environment and actually make a difference.

I also wish werewolves would turn into wolves rather than.. werewolves when they transition. I don't like them at that state and I think it wasn't very well made.
