Reg, I hope Pete is right on those fixes. I've read some about Win 8.1 which seems to address the gripes Win 8 users have made but I thought it was another OS they were going to sell, not offer as an update. I was a little miffed over that because I thought it should come in update form.
Now you understand why I am not happy with the fact that in my mobo I can't adjust the starting fan speed. I either have to use the Q-Fan program or disable the fans from it. Disabling the fans keeps the system super cool but I might as well have a jet engine sitting next to me with all 3 case fans running at 100%. I even called Asus tech support before I took the system back to Fry's to have a tech check it. Their phone tech support was a joke.
Anyway, I don't know precisely what the Fry's tech did but I'm getting a couple hundred more rpms at idle on the cpu fan and about 400 more while playing. Just that small increase is now keeping me below 60 while playing so I'm okay with that. If I know I'll be testing for hours, even though it will be a pain in the neck, I'll disable the exhaust fan from the program to vent heat from the case better.
Tangie, I certainly understand why you end up frustrated over something with navigating Win 8. IMHO, this is an OS aimed at touchscreens. I think Win 7 is better for a normal PC myself.
BTW, DM is okay, just doing other things right now.
There are now more pics up in the store forum of the new Cow PC coming out on Thursday. It actually looks like a really cute set to have.
