cheesechatter An EA App update shouldn't have anything to do with Sims 3 unless the App itself is crashing. When are you seeing the Sims 3 crashes: as the game loads, once you're playing your save, etc.? And when the game does crash, does the EA App itself still work properly.
Please also provide a dxdiag. Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop. From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

I have a brand new gaming laptop and I am from the United Kingdom. The Sims 3 was working perfectly for a long time then all the suddenly it is the same problem as you constantly crashing after let say twenty minutes. EA is so corrupt obviously done this on purpose so we have no choice but to play Sims 4 . Sims 4 doesn't even work properly either. Also, there is more burglars in the Sims 3 game suddenly so it is looking like a software bug that has been put in the game, no surprise there.
sheree5 With all due respect, that's a ridiculous notion. EA didn't break Sims 3, it fixed an issue where the game wouldn't start on certain processors. That was the only change. And while I'm sure EA would love for more people to switch to Sims 4 and buy more content, Sims 3 is making money without any need to invest dev time or resources, so it's a pretty good asset to have in the library.
For the record, the only issue appearing with increased frequency at the moment is one ("serious error" when loading a world) whose resurgence predated the January patch and is mostly if not entirely due to Windows settings. Other than that, the number of reports of problems with the game is about the same as it has been for years, on this site and on the recently-departed Answers HQ.
