Solved

An issue with installing The Sims 3 Outdoor Living Stuffs on my Origin library.

I've purchased the actual game disc, but decided on installing a copy of it on my Origin's game library for convenience sake. So far this is what I've done and probably somewhere along the lines, lead me to this issue ( I have no idea).

I redeem the product code, which was successful and started to install it. When the downloading progress bar reaches to 100%, a message from InstallShield Wizard pops up, and it says here, " Setup has detected that The Sims 3 is corrupt or not properly installed. Setup is unable to continue."

At this stage I've tried installing it again multiple times to no avail. Are there any solutions out there that could help deal with this issue?

Probably like removing the game from my Origin's library, re-redeeming the product code and re-installing it?

Any help and/or advice will be greatly appreciated and I thank you in advance 😕mileyhappy:

In my case what I've done is installed the game on the PC by using my disc. However I've also redeemed the code on Origin so that should I ever lose the disc I can still play.

When I go to Origin now, I get an option to "play" so perhaps that's what you need to do - install the game off the disc and then play off Origin. I'm not really the best but that should work.

Gotta run now but if you reply will only be able to help you in several hours.

Enjoy your day! (Assuming it's daylight where you are) 😕mileyvery-happy:

I understand completely. I saw last night (I was thinking of this post) that when I go into Origin and to My Games I get the option to "play". Now I have installed the game off my disc - and so when I pressed "play" my launcher started and obviously you play that way.

So I advise you to install the game off the disc so that you can actually play but I think that you should contact EA about the download problems. I will also see what I can do for you.

Once you have redeemed your serial code on Origin it should pop up in My Games. I understand that you're trying to install it from the My Games?

Can you not install it (as you have the disc) from your disc instead?

Haii thanks so much for helping here 😕mileyvery-happy:

Yes, i am trying to install the stuff pack from My Games through the Origin.

Yes I can install the game through the disc, however, I'm trying to install the game onto my Origin's library too for convenience sake.

So I don't have to always run the disc to play the game.

Might you have any other suggestions with regards to what I can do to solve the issue of InstallShield Wizard's message stating, " Setup has detected that the Sims 3 is corrupt or not properly installed. Setup is unable to continue."

At this stage, I'm pretty sure the game is not corrupt, so that boils down to "not properly installed" what are some possible solutions that I can do?

Probaly something along the lines of uninstalling it altogether and re-installing it?

I'm not really good with techinical issues, so if you have a step by step explanation, would help a lot 😕mileyembarrassed:

I thank you in advance and am looking forward to a valid solution 😕mileytongue:

Haii, thanks for your reply 😕mileyvery-happy:

Hmm, I've redeem my code on Origin, which went well. Then i carried on with the download, when the download bar reaches 100%, that was when the message from InstallShield Wizard pops up. The record of the game is on My Games, but I can't use it, 'cause after the download, the installation wasn't able to continue and it's just stuck there.

When you say " install the game off the disc and then play off Origin." Do you mean through redeeming code (which I've already done, and is successful) or do you mean by another method? 😕mileyembarrassed:

As always, thank you so much for your help and advice. I look forward to any new suggestions 😕mileyhappy:

That's exactly what I mean. I personally don't do it that way but I can't see why not.

Besides, why are you so unhappy to play with a disc? No offense intended!!

About that, redeeming the code was fine, but the problem comes after that, when I tried to download the game on My Games. It just wouldn'y install and the same message keeps popping up 😕mileysurprised:

I'm not exactly unhappy about playing the game on my disc, I just think that playing the game through Origin would be a safer, convenient and much faster option. It is pretty much the reason why Origin exist. Hmm, take it as an example my worries lies with what would happen if the laptop I'm using right now to play The Sims 3, was stolen and the only copy of the game in on that laptop. I would have no way of retrieving it and lose all my game data, if you get what I mean, that's why I find it to be a much safer option. Another scenario, what if I were to travel abroad to visit relatives and friends for a couple of months and left my laptop and/or game disc back home? I wouldn'y have excess to the game, so here are some reasons why I feel there are limitations when it comes to playing with the disk, oppose to playing it through the memory on Origin. (Hope I didn't confuse you too much 😕mileytongue🙂

If you click on someone's name you should see an option on the lower right to "add to my friends". With the Answer HQ it's kind of pointless but it's still nice to do. On Origin there has been a huge problem with friend requests but are you on the Sims 3 website?

Also, there's no need to be embarrassed! 😕mileyvery-happy: Everyone is learning new stuff everyday (especially me!!! 😕mileylol🙂 And besides the whole point of having the Answer HQ is that you help people. It was a pleasure to try and help you. Thank you.
