Junkyards have been nightmares for me with their spawners! For the longest time I could not figure out why I kept getting furniture and items spawning in my playgrounds and parks. Then I started building commercial lots and using buydebug and realized that every time I moved the junkyard (I never seem to like it where the game puts it) it would leave the spawners behind!
I didn't know how to get them out from the underground until I read a thread here on the forums about the spawners (Spawner Alert in LL, or something like that). Also didn't realize that spinning a lot to get the right placement also multiplies the spawners. Making a basement does seem like a good way to get them all, though. At least it has been working so far.
About a month ago or so I downloaded a few houses off the exchange because I wanted some smaller houses (and I always seem to build big) but it wasn't worth it. On two different lots I had over 100 gem spawners I had to delete on each, then there was a lot of MOO placements that just didn't work right for my sims, and finally one had a bunch of CC with it that I am still trying to get rid of. I don't generally use CC except for some patterns, but even those can be a problem. One of the houses had a pattern included that was messing up my CAS where everytime I tried to use the Misc category it would freeze up. It took me awhile to get rid of that, in the end I just unistalled any pattern I had not seem before. I was surprised how many there was.
In the interest of keeping my worlds running well, I don't think I'll be d/ling any more lots from the exchange any time soon. I'm trying to decide if I should keep the ones I've already gone through and fixed or just uninstall them all. I put a lot of time into making some of them playable.
