How to turn off extra stores on map

Hello,

I have been making a lot of builds in Birdgeport, so I have been adding extra buildings from community objects like mike's cornerstore, and bookstores. I block the entrances in a way that looks like construction (so sims dont go there and also aesthetically), but when I zoomed out during gameplay on the map, I have like 4 bookstores and 3 grocery stores and I hate that look!!!!

Is there any way to disable it?

  • Spycoo16  I don't know that there's a way to do this, but if the option exists, you'd want NRaas Tagger.  Looking at the documentation, it appears that under Lot Options, you could set MetaAutonomy for these lots to something that doesn't show in Map View.  Here's a list:

    https://www.nraas.net/community/Tagger-MetaAutonomy

If this doesn't work, ask on the NRaas site.  Someone there will know if it's possible.

The problem is that the map tag is derived from the rabbithole, and you've been putting extra rabbitholes all over the map.  So unless you want to disable ALL lot map tags, it would be difficult or maybe impossible to hide, say, the extra bookstores' tags but not the tag for the actual bookstore sims can use.

Ohh ok thanks! Yeah I just might open them up instead of blocking them from being opened because lowkey real cities have multiple of the same locations.

I had another question, My game lags about every 10 seconds during gameplay but not in edit town mode. I added 5 new lots on my bridgeport save at about $80k simoleons per lot (replaced firehouse, laundromat, salon/tattoo parlor, convenience store, bakery), and a $170k movie theater I custom made. For 3 of the lots I added the grocery stores and book stores,  or roof accessories to make it fit into the bridgeport "look", and I am wondering if the added rabbit holes is whats making my gameplay lag? Do I need to remove some of these lots :( they make the game more full

  • Spycoo16  It's possible the new lots are adding to the lag, but it's also possible that this is fixable.  If the lag is still present after a restart, try running an NRaas MasterController town reset (NRaas > MC > Town Options > Reset Everything).  Then save/quit/delete cache files/reload to see how the game runs.

If you still get the lag, delete two of the lots, or the movie theater alone, and quit and reload.  You can use "Save as" rather than "Save" so you don't overwrite your progress.  The question is, do you need to remove one specific lot, or a certain number of lots, or all of them; or does removing all of them not help either?  Once you have an answer, especially if it's that one lot is a problem, we can try to figure out why.

I was searching around and I downloaded NRAAS Overwatch and error trap and it said it turned off like 11 tvs, deleted 36 cars, and fixed a few sim routing issues. Do you know if these mods delete the sims and cars to make them unusable? The game plays more smoothly with those mods so far. But I am going to play a few more days to see.

  • Spycoo16  I didn't realize you weren't already using those mods, or I'd have suggested them.  I still suggest adding MasterController though; it doesn't do anything unless you use it to issue a command, so it'll just sit there until you need it.

ErrorTrap and Overwatch may well have resolved the issue that was causing the lag.  One problem that can drag down performance on any system is a stuck sim, as the game tries (apparently thousands of times per second) to reroute the sim but constantly fails.  OW catches and resets these sims much more quickly than the game itself.

If you're getting a lot of stuck sim notifications, I would suggest disabling OW's Stuck Check Auto-Reset setting (leave Stuck Check on).  When you get a notification about a stuck sim, you can click the portrait to center the camera on the sim.  With auto-reset enabled, the sim will have already been reset, but with it disabled, you can see where the sim got stuck.  If there's a spot that's causing frequent problems, you can edit it, for example moving or deleting an object the sims seem to get stuck on.

Apartments in Bridgeport can be an issue because of the NPC areas on the ground floors—resident sims can't use the NPC doors, so if they appear inside these areas, they're stuck until they get reset... sometimes still inside the NPC area.  Point is, you might need to rearrange some of these buildings.

As for the cars, OW is deleting those that don't need to be in the game.  When a sim wants to go somewhere but doesn't have a vehicle and it's too far to walk, the game grants them a cheap car, and these don't get deleted by themselves.  So they can pile up over time.  As long as OW is only deleting a few dozen per night, you're fine, but if that gets to a few hundred or more, the cars will probably be affecting performance before OW can flush them.  The mod to address that is NRaas Traffic.

Oh ok thank you for the tips! Yeah my gameplay is more smooth with error trap and overwatch now.

How would I do this part? Is Overwatch something to toggle with NRAAS option when I click anywhere on the sims screen?

  • Spycoo16  Click City Hall and select NRaas > Overwatch > Settings > Stuck Check Auto-Reset.  It would be set to True by default, so clicking it would flip it to False.
