Cannot Download The Sims 3 Without Origin

Hello everyone, I am new here so please bear with me.

I am attempting to download The Sims 3 for the first time on my Windows 10 PC. I am using a disc, which was manufactured in 2013.

When I attempt to open the game file, it says I cannot move forward until I download Origin onto my computer. Unfortunately, since Origin is gone, I am stuck at this screen and cannot move forward because downloading origin forces it to update and a critical error occurs.

Am I just SOL and down the $15 I spent to play this game? I’m very upset that there is no way around this since the change to EA happened. I am a new player trying to enjoy the game I bought and now I just feel like I’ve been scammed. ☹️

    @haltyourhorses  Install the EA App, and if you can, register the code that came with your disc.  Then download Sims 3 from the App rather than installing via disc.  It's more convenient and less prone to error.

    If you can't register the code, I'm not sure the App will let you install using the disc either, in which case you would unfortunately be out of luck.  If you do want to try Sims 3 at some point though, wait for a sale and buy the Starter Pack, which includes the base game plus one expansion and one stuff pack.  It's normally $20 U.S. but can be 50% off during sales.
