Can't connect to the exchange on The Sims 3 Pets.

I have The Sims Pets for the Playstation 3, when I try to go to the exchange or connect to EA, a message comes up saying, "sorry, we are unable to connect to the EA server at this time. Please try again later." I've had the game for months and it still won't work and my code won't work in the store. I hate to have paid for something I can't fully use, how can this be fixed? Thank you.

Even though this is late and I’m sure you should know by now, I will say it anyway. The online server was disconnected by EA in 2012 and was no longer able to connect to the Exchange therefore rendering our codes useless.
