Hello,
I recently began a save file in Monte Vista on my new PC and began playing the World Adventures pack. I went to China about three times and returned home with no issues. I went to Egypt next and this is where the problems began. I started having issues with the tombs in Egypt. My sim would go down the stairs and the rooms would not light up and I could not interact with anything. I installed several mods to help with this including NRAAS Mastercontroller, Overwatch, Traveler, and Errortrap. These immediately solved the issue. However, when midnight came, I received the "your trip has ended" notification and sent back home (I still should have had another day in Egypt). For some reason, my game could not load the home world of Monte Vista. I would receive a "Serious Error" message telling me it is strongly recommended to restart my game. This happens everytime whether I call to leave Egypt or let the game boot me early. I have tried everything I can think of to fix this. I discovered that my installed store items including Monte Vista were deleting themselves from the launcher and had to resort to installing every item one by one through the in-game downloads dashboard. However, my home world save in Monte Vista still would not load. My sim reached level 10 martial arts and photography and got visa level 2 in China so I really would hate to lose all my progress.
I have tried deleting the cache files from the game. I have tried retrieving the backup save which has the same issue when trying to return home. I have reset everything in Egypt with the NRAAS mods. I've gone through these forms and tried virtually every solution for problems similar to mine but no luck. I am able to enter Monte Vista through another save and even tested going to china and back and then Egypt and back with no issues so it's definitely an issue in my specific save file.
Please help if you can! I have always wanted to 100% World Adventures and never could because of glitches and corruption that would always happen before I could complete all the tombs, etc. I got a new gaming PC and jumped through all the hoops to make the game run on it and now I am just gutted by losing this save!
@BroArmy4Life1 As an experiment, try sending your sim to a different vacation world, then home without returning to Egypt. (This is also possible with NRaas Traveler installed.) Use "save as" to rename the save once your sim arrives in the new world, then quit and reload before sending them back to Monte Vista. To be clear, this is not a good strategy overall—it can confuse the game as to the sim's homeworld—but it's a helpful test.
If this doesn't work, please start a new save NOT in MV, save your progress, and quit. Then copy the Monte Vista .nhd file from the old save into the folder for the new save. These are in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3 > Saves, with one folder per save. Reload the new save and see whether your sim can travel to MV. If it works, they should land in your old save's version of MV, but double-check that it's that version and not a fresh copy.
