Download Manifest Server Error

I've seen a few other posts about this issue but none have been recent, so I thought I'd see if there's any updates on how to fix this.

For context, I have not had a single issue downloading from the exchange until today when I wanted to add some new sims. I can't get the files to download at all directly from the exchange, and downloading the files onto my system and moving them into the downloads folder gives me an instillation error that claims I don't have the most recent version of the game. I'm at a bit of a loss on what to do to fix either issue, so I'm hoping someone will have some answers.

I've attached a screenshot of the launcher error, and here's what I've been getting in the launcher log file:

@roberta591  I'm not sure why you're saying this user's game isn't fully patched, much less where "version 1.17" is coming from.  The error clearly lists Build Version 1.69, several times, and additionally, they said that downloads worked fine until the day they posted.

Further, as I noted in my first reply, it appears that one of these downloads is corrupt and may be causing the launcher to stop working.  This has nothing to do with the way content is installed and has been a problem since the release of Sims 3; it's certainly not a symptom of an unpatched game.

  • @JTGrimmfire  I tried the first two downloads listed in your error log (Nora and Cecilia), and both downloaded and installed fine for me.  I used Firefox and the Add to Game button, and everything looked fine, although I didn't load my game to check.  Then I downloaded Harriet using Save File, and I managed to break the launcher's installer; a fourth downloaded sim (Cassie) refused to install with either method.

Point is, the downloads are working overall at the moment, although one or more of these sims may be corrupt enough to break the launcher.  I would suggest trying to install them in a clean user folder, as a test, both to see whether you can in fact install them and whether they're broken in-game or come with custom content you don't want.

@puzzlezaddict I was using chrome to download before, so I tried again using Firefox, but i still ran into the same issue even starting with only trying to download Nora using the Add to Game button. At this point I'm content with just losing out on these exchange sims, but when i tested downloading store content I'm trapped in a loop of endless log-ins on the launcher, even when I'm already logged in on the account that owns the items. So the entire launcher is just busted now?

I already tried repairing the game through the EA app, before I initially posted, so no need to recommend that option, but I just don't want to have to uninstall and reinstall everything to fix the launcher issue because I have a lot of store items as well and adding it all back will take a few hours out of my day - not to mention the time it'll take just redownloading the base game and all the expansions I have.

@JTGrimmfire  I'm not suggesting you uninstall anything, not even your existing Store content.  I'm suggesting, as a test, that you move your user folder so that your existing Store and custom content is temporarily not accessible by the game, and test from there.  This is to see whether any of the items you want is broken without affecting your primary user folder, and it may also helpful if you're having launcher login issues.

You shouldn't need to login to the launcher at all.  If you're asked for a login anyway, and the new folder doesn't help, clear Edge's Internet Explorer-mode data, as described at the end of this article:

@JTGrimmfire PC users need to using the EA app now. First - your game looks like it is NOT patched to the latest version of the game. The EA way to patch Sims 3 is to download the version 1.67 version patch (this is the super patch?). You can NOT download the latest version (version 1.69.43.024017). Starting the game with version version 1.17 should invoke update the game patch to version 1.69. I have not tried this since the PC changed from Origin to the EA app. The easy way is to uninstall the game and get the digital download version as that installs the game at version 1.69. It looks like your trying to download some sims from the Exchange. This could be done in cas (create a sim). That is the way I recovered my created sims. All your Sims 3 store items can be found in game on the load game screen. Click the options (...) in the lower left and you should see Open Downloads Dashboard. There you can find all your Sims 3 store items. In the lower right corner you will find a window about the Sims 4. Click the learn more button and you should see the Bakery. Click the home button the the upper left corner and you should see the Boheian Garden and on the left you should see access to all (most?) the Sims 3 store items in your account. All the graphics may not be loading but the items are there.

@puzzlezaddict apologies for the late response, but your suggestion to make a clean folder worked out. My launcher's working fine again 🙂

I really only wanted those sims from the exchange because they had some cc that I had before but was somehow missing from my system, but I've managed to find the individual package & simspack files for them that've installed as normal. Thanks again for the tip!
