Error Code 12 when Saving on Sims3

I am running Windows 7, the computer has an Intel(R) Pentium (R) CPU G480 @ 2.80GHz Processor with 8.00GB of Ram (it also says it has 3.41GB usable). It has an 32-bit Operating System.

I have defraged the computer, checked the save files, the current game files, uploaded DirectX version 9, uninstalled Sims and the extension packs
I have (Ambitions, Generations, Pets & Seasons). (Saving a copy of my saved games to my Documents.) Reinstalled all the games but I still get Error Code 12 whenever I try and save - no matter if I've been 'playing' for 2 minutes or 20. I've tried to just 'save', to 'save as', etc... and nothing works.

The Sims used to play fine, occasionally freezing or shutting down till the end of the summer when it started giving Error code 12 or 13 more often, so I didn't play for a long time, however after getting Sims Seasons for Christmas I thought I'd try and get it going again. However now I can't play at all as it just won't save - defeating the object of playing. It also freezes and crashes every now and then.

I have the same problem except I'm on an iMac. The manual says if you encounter code 12 contact support but I have not found any other support than this. Will be very happy for an anwer!

Hello, as I said before, I have tried all the things suggested on the help link, but none of them seem to work. It is really frustrating, because even if I just open up Sims3 and save as soon as the game opens, I still get Error Code 12...

I also had that. 😕mileysad: Re-installing all my games seemed to do the trick though. Now, I'm playing where I save and use that save name for about four more times then I do save as and use that four times and repeat the process. Thanks to rumbutter for that tip.

Thank you for your reply. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it, but I used my saved game files so that I didn't lose my family that I had created... Maybe this is why it is still giving me trouble?

Sounds like we have a lot in common!!! I had that as well. Eventually I just started a clean slate - it was worth it.

32 bit OS can only handle 4 gb of ram. The other 4 you have is useless and does nothing.
