@Qu4s1m0doS Please make sure Controlled Folder Access is disabled or has exceptions for TS3.exe (Origin install) or TS3W.exe (with the W, disc or Steam install). This guide is for Sims 4 and Windows 10, but the principle is the same.

If that doesn't help, please try a new save in a new admin Windows account. Make it a local account, as in, don't sign into Microsoft, and don't sync with any other services you normally use. You won't need to reinstall the game, but your saves and other user content will be inaccessible. That can be fixed later; for now, please just start a new save and see whether you can save your progress. Try both "save" and "save as," the latter while renaming the save.
@puzzlezaddict Thank you for helping me! I updated to the EA-app a little while ago if that matters.
I added the exceptions and also had no luck with my current save.
However when I tried your second suggestions I was able to start a new game (ofc with no store content, mods or cc - the game created a new TS3 documents folder), speed run through it and "save as" twice with no issues. Then I took one sim traveling to Shang Simla and the error code 16 occurred while trying "save as". But, this time, after erasing the bad save while in game, "save" worked! After that I was able to "save as" once more.
Tomorrow I will try starting a new save including my store content, mods, cc and see how it goes. Hopefully this issue will be fixed eventually, though.

@Qu4s1m0doS Do you still get error 16? As im thinking of taking out my mods and store content to see if the issue now lies in the mods or store content. I will try myself tonight with using a local account as suggested and see if that helps 🙂
Hi! Sadly I still get error 16, but how often depends.
I don't know why, but when I don't have my mods and store content I usually can save with no error. And when it still occurs I can erase the bad save while in game and switch from "save as" to "save" and it'll work.
But when I have everything installed I get the stupid error 16 all the time, and rarely can save successfully. It'll refuse regardless of which save method I'm using, untill it suddenly works one time. Though it can take half an hour or even more untill I it does, which is just unreasonable.
Having said that, so far I have only tested my back up document folders for TS3 with edited basic starter saves/libraries. I created them in case something goes wrong and so that I don't have to reinstall all my store content through the launcher everytime - it's all done and ready. Plus world fixes for better performance and edited lots/outfits. I have not yet tested if the error will occur less if I start up an unedited new save with the store content and let the game recreate most of the documents folder. I will try it this weekend.

Thanks for your reply! Awesome that helps very much, as much as I will be annoyed that i cant play with mods or store content tbh that's better than the current issue. Hopefully there is some sort of fix soon! I will try this later tonight and see if this works for me too!
The reason i asked about the mods is because i saw a thread on the modthesims forum about this issue that someone else had and they said that they noticed when they had no mods that that they could save fine but once they added back their mods, they had the issue arise again.
Im really not sure why mods or store content is messing up the sims 3 after this update??? Seems very strange!
How did you back up your documents folder to not have to reinstall store content all over again? Because that will be handy for me as i have a lot of store content lol and hate having to do this.
