@charm1978 Is your Documents folder in OneDrive? Even if you never use it, OneDrive can lock up the Sims 3 folder. So please check its location, using the Command Prompt command listed in post 8 of this thread.
@EA_QueenBee The guide you linked is from 2012 and hasn't been updated in almost as long. It doesn't cover any of the more recent causes of Error Code 16, including those introduced with Windows 10, and it doesn't account for the reasons the error would happen to a new and not remotely corrupt save.
