After downloading the 1.55 patch, when opening the launcher, I get a message 'there was an error during start-up. Please see log for details' and when I bypass the launcher I get a service initialization fail --0x0175dcbb. The game was playing fine before the update.
I have tried downloading from origin and from an alternative super patch downloader from mod the sims, [I have more than enough memory for the sims and the couple of EPs I have, but I'm reluctant to download a file over a GB in size] but with the same results.
Since getting the errors, I have uninstalled all EPs, cleaned out my registry using CCleaner multiple times, deleted all my mods and uninstalled and reinstalled the base game twice. I've tried renaming and removing the sims 3 folder and I currently have no caches to delete.
Island Paradise was the reason why I tried to update; I am a student, and have been saving to buy the EP since it was announced. I really don't have money to throw away, and not only that, but my entire game is useless at the moment. It's a real headache, especially since EA has never given me any problems before!
