Thankyou! I followed your instructions, ie using ccleaner, I uninstalled and cleaned the registy. It worked. Thanks again!

I just bought the base game from origin. Fully downloaded, click the play button ( so no CC added, no mods, no expansions, no extra NOTHING ) and it gives me the "there was an error during startup " pop up. I tried downloading the most recent patch and installing that and it says that the 'file could not be found". I tried running it as administrator and it still gives me the same pop-up. I tried unistalling origin and the game and reinstalling both. Same issue. What gives?
I also just updated my graphics driver so its not that either. And I tried 'bypassing' the launcher but I don't think that works with the origin download.
EDIT: Downloaded super patch. Now it won't even let me try and start the game anywhere other than through the origin screen. So I can't even troubleshoot 'run as admin' anymore.
