omyssz8fi2ep Did you launch Sims 3 once after editing the .sgr file, and are you sure the change stuck? Sometimes the file reverts, either for reasons unknown (maybe an antivirus blocking changes, maybe something else) or if you repair the game.
The Nexus add-on tool only works if your particular device ID is covered, and I don't know whether that's the case. It doesn't accomplish anything more than what you've tried to do yourself.
The missing shadows issue should be easy to solve (with AMD cards, at least) whether your GPU is recognized or not. Open GraphicsRules.sgr, search for rendershadowmode , and change the 1 in one of the entries to a 2. That should be sufficient.
