@shantipoet once you put a Sims3Pack file in your Downloads folder and install it with the launcher you should move it from the Downloads folder to a backup or safe storage folder. Don't keep them in the Downloads folder once they have been installed.
When you have installed something with the launcher a new file is created in your DCCache folder. It will end in ebc or dbc. The launcher extracts and merges data from the Sims3Pack files to these new files so you no longer need them in the Downloads folder. If you have too many files in the downloads folder the launcher will eventually not install them. Having too much in the downloads folder slows down the loading process.
Now when you convert a Sims3Pack file to a package file and place it in your mods folder you will need to get rid of the dbc file from your DCCache folder. Dbc files are custom content and ebc files are store content. The only way I know of to know which ebc or dbc file you need to remove is to write down the file name your Sims3Pack was merged into at the time it was installed. Most files in the DCCache folder will contain merged data from several Sims3Pack files.
My personal preference would be to start a fresh Sims 3 folder and reinstall all Sims3Pack files that are not going to be converted to package files. Then add the package files to your mods folder.
