I recieved The Sims 3 from the newest Humble Bundle. I downloaded the game through Origin. I went to go login in to the Sims 3 website, and it forced me to create an account using my Origin information. I then tried to register my product using the product key given to me by Origin, and the website repeatedly told me that it was invalid.
1. My Origin account is my Sims 3 account, and it is also not allowing me to register my 4-block product key given by Origin/ what is reading in my Windows registary (regedit). It also forced to me create a Sims 3 account upon opening the game.
2. My Origin account is also not showing Sims 3 on my account as well, even though the client clearly has it on my account.
Does this have to do with the servers being bogged down from all the Humble Bundle purchasers trying to register their products?
YOu can't use the 16 digit key where the sims3 is telling you to use it. Go to My account, log in again if it asks you to, and click on "redeem a code" that one takes the 16 digit key. If the sims3.com site tells you it's invalid it's probably because it "took" by sims3 but it hasn't shown up yet in Origin. There is a (rather long) synch delay. Wait for it.
I know this, and have tried. Since I redeemed the code via Origin, I can no longer use it for the code redemption.
I looked up the 20 digit serial key via Windows Registery/clicking the "i" icon in Origin and even that didn't work at the "Register A Game" screen under "My Page". Nothing is working at this point. ☹️
Actually that is not surprising. Earlier today I was getting "internal server error" when trying to redeem a code in Origin, instructing me to "contact the site administrator" at root at localhost dot com. If you are a sysadmin, you'll be laughing right about now. In any event, as long as you have your keys, you are golden, keep a record and try again tomorrow, that's my best guess. All that's required is that you go to sims3.com, add the 4 block key in "redeem a code", then it should show up in Origin. If not, it's not your fault, there's nothing left to do but wait for Origin and Sims3 to sync up.
