Into The Future Bug Thread

Reapplying the manual super patch seems to solve a few of the more common tech issue.

The super patch has a different version than the incremental one. Make sure your game is at 1.63.5 and not at 1.63.4 or 1.62 (patch on the DVD)

For those of you who have the DVD base game and plan on getting the ITF download version, be very aware of this issue and do NOT reinstall your base game when asked to: D L C- Compatibility Alert

If you're getting a disc warning despite of your ITF being download, reapply the manual super patch --> Download Version asks for DVD

If you have crashing issues, please make your own thread in the technical part of this forum. This one is about GAMEPLAY bugs. You can also post here: 1.63 Patch - How to Install & Problems/Solutions - READ FIRST POST

I do not have a solution for uninstalling Store content other than reinstalling all of them. If you have the issue, please post in the technical or Store technical section of this forum.

Please remove your mods before posting. Even if they say they are updated. You can only be sure something is a EA bug if you play a vanilla game.

There is no need for reading this whole thread but please check my posts on this first page if your issue has been reported and only post if you have extra info to add.

Remember that the patch will make your game 'EP' ready. Most of the bugs (unless they are specific to functionality of the EP) and fixes will also apply if you only have the patch and NOT the EP.

Rules

Please post the info asked in the second post and I'd appreciate it if you follow the rules

1. Please DO NOT VENT in this thread. If you are not happy with the game, post in another thread that most likely will pop up or start your own. I will need to read through all posts and venting will make me skip your post. Make your statement as calm and informative as possible.
2. Don't post things like: It doesn't work or I got an error message. I don't know how to help you with that. Describe as accurate as possible what you tried and what your problem is. Post any error messages you receive as you seem them (screen-shots are great)
3. Make sure that you have removed ALL your custom content, especially mods for they are most likely not compatible anymore. This also applies if you are only getting the patch. Check with the creators before putting them back.
4. You can also post your bugs/problems if you have not but the expansion but updated to the newest patch.
5. Please do not post any technical issues like crashes, graphic card problems or incompatibility messages. They go in the technical section of this forum and there are people there that can better help you than me.
6. Please read the compiled lists to see if anyone has posted before and if there's a solution to your problem. I will try to keep links so you can go to the post of the person for extra info but that might prove difficult if lots of people have the problem. If you have extra info to add, please do so. Also let me know if you feel that I have misinterpreted your post.
7. Also consult my blog at Crinrict's Sims 3 Help Blog to see if you are running into an old problem that already has a solution
8. You may also post any fixed bugs or solutions you might find.
9. Please do not link to another post if you have already posted somewhere else. Copy/Paste your post and add the link as extra info. This forum will probably be a pain to navigate again and if I don't have to go consult other threads to what might be your problem, that's a huge relieve.
10. Keep in mind that I'm in a different time zone than most of you guys. Be patient, I will try to answer anyone (except venting posts).
11. If you are replying to a question of mine, please quote your problem/my question or recap in short. It will help me tremendously if I don't have to go back to see what your problem was and I can't keep them all in mind.
12. Check your game if you have any old cc-framework leftovers and remove.
13. Please don't post: I don't have the time to read all this. I find that rather insulting because it tells me, you didn't even bother to read the first post. I'm taking MY time to help you guys out and I'm not compensated by EA for this so the least you can do is read the first few posts before making your statement.
14. Please do not edit your post to add extra info to it unless no one else has answered you. I'm not going back in reading the thread, so I might miss extra info. Simply make a new post and restate your issue.
15. Please also excuse if my answers are short and to the point. I usually have to cover a lot of ground and I can't be elaborate about everything. It's not meant in a rude way at all. I appreciate everyone that is taking part in this.
16. If you opened a thread on a certain issue you want linked, post the link in this thread and I will add it. Make sure there aren't any threads there yet.
17. If you feel that I'm not treating everyone in the same way, you're probably right. There are people that have been reporting since my first bug thread and others that are modders/creators themselves. I feel that I know when a bug report of those people is legit and when not, so I'll be quicker to add those compared to people I don't know at all.
18. Please use proper english and no text language. Also try to use punctuation where applicable and don't put everything in one paragraph. Those are very hard for me to read. I'm German speaking, so that would help me a great deal to understand what you are saying.

Origin

Make sure your Origin is up-to-date (if you are using it). If your Origin is not at that version and you are not prompted an update, you will need to uninstall and get the newest version here: http://www.origin.com/us/about

Crashing Issues

Crashing issues are mainly technical and belong in the technical forum. Please make your own thread there, posting your DxDiag and info about cc, when it crashes and other useful stuff.

Here's some things you can try: ERROR: Game Crashes (CTD)

DEP Information

If you are experiencing crashes after load screen or after a few minutes of game play, it's most likely a DEP problem. The game has now a new .exe file in your base game folder. Make sure to add the following new files to your DEP:

TS3W.EXE in your base game\bin folder.

MAC Users

If you have technical issue, please post in the mac forum

Things to try

- FAQ: Delete your Cache Files
- Move your family out and back in.
- Reset the sim ?
- TUTORIAL: Resetting the game to factory settings without Reinstalling --> Make sure to save those: SimPort Progress and Achievements
- TUTORIAL: - How to reinstall the game
- FAQ: How do I restore a backup file ?
- Move your Sims to a new town. Save them to the bin for that. Use Twallan's Porter if you don't want to loose the relationships.

A word on Mods/Hacks
It's ok to use them, I do too (I even recommend some of them), but please please, educate yourself about them. Don't just pop something in. There are many mods that conflict with each other and there are many mods that will be outdated with every patch (that's how it works).

Some of the mods need to be uninstalled in a special way but it will always tell you in the mod description if that is the case. So PLEASE read them and DO what it says.

MC = MasterController: Mod by Twallan
SP = StoryProgression Mod: Mod by Twallan
CC = Custom Content: cloth, objects, hair, etc from third-parties you add to your game.

I came here with a similar problem. I'm still not sure of the cause but think i found a solution.
First of all I noticed that my sim *is* on the lot next to the portal, i just can't do anything with him or anything else for that matter. He is now simply an npc.

Click on the "..." menu button
Click "edit town"
I always click just continue on the pop-up, no point in saving
Click on your sims house, should be green
Click "evict sim" on bottom left of pop-up
Click the check mark when it asks if you are sure
click move out
Click past pop-up about active household
there should be a greyed out pictures of sim/household in upper left, click it
Save copy to library
click button /bar at top of screen, think it said return to setup
then just move sim into a new home (or same home) from the household tab.

this action deleted everythin in the sim inventory but not the household family inventory.
You are also no longer a partner in any venues you have bought into, and no extra simoleons from them either

Issue with sending plumbot to university:

I noticed i have an issue with sending a plumbot to a university. I also see others had issues with going to university. I think the problem may have to do with the the plumbot in general, and the chips it has equipped. Im thinking that if you put a sentient chip in and not a office drone one, your plumbot will glitch out anyone going to university...not sure if anyone else thought about this, but this is something to consider. Im testing out leaving the plumbot at home while the rest of the house goes to college. Ill write down the results here of what i found.

UPDATED and POSSIBLE FIX: Going to the university without the said plumbot seemed to fix the issue. Im really confident that this issue was caused by a plumbot not having the office drone chip installed while going to college. If someone would like to reproduce it try this and see if it does the same error:

STEPS TO REPRODUCE THE ERROR:

1. Have plumbot with sentience chip installed.
2. Use enroll in university with plumbot and family members.
3. Go to college.

This should reproduce the issue.

If anyone want to post future bugs, I suggest posting over to Complied list of Bugs in The Sims 3. The purpose of this thread is to list every known bug in Into the Future & version 1.67.

I came across three ITF bugs, but one of them is easily fixed, another has a temp fix.
My game is fully patched and as of this posting I only have base game, Ambitions, Supernatural, and Into the Future

Sims use the walking animation while on the Windcarver
-Remove the Simbots Walk Normally mod to fix this

Several outfits get scrambled, accessories and facial/body hair get removed when traveling to the future
-Temp fix use Mater Controller and repair your sims in CAS

Unable to use the Laser-Rythim-a-con sheet music books in the present
- Seems like this wasn't a bug, my sim just gained the songs from opportunities, I had a Plumbot later learn the skill but he never got the related opportunities, so the books worked for him.

Plumbot motives get reset when you reset a sim in the same household
- Temp fix for Fun and Social motives, pull out a chip that provides those functions then put the trait chip back in

The Maintenance Master Life Time Reward for plumbots doesn't refill the maintenance meter if it drops for any reason
- Temp fix enable cheats and shift click the maintenance bar then drag it to max

Hi everyone!

I just purchased the Sims 3 expansion pack Into the Future, which finally completes my collection of the expansion packs! However, I seem to be having a very odd glitch that I simply cannot work out.

The game installed fine on steam. It shows up as being downloaded and appears in the game launcher. When I launch the game, I get the into the future loading screen and when in an EXISTING game I can purchase any of the related content AND get a message saying "A new town has become available for your sims to move into!".

BUT, the new town simply doesn't exist... When starting a new game and opening the town options, I get everything apart from Oasis Falls (I think that's what it's called). All my other towns show up for my various expansion packs but not that one. I tried going into an existing game and tried to move my existing family to the town after getting the "You have a new town!" notification but it doesn't appear there either. It's incredibly confusing given that everything else is showing up, just not the town.

What I have tried so far:
Restarting the computer after download - NOT WORKED
Uninstalling Into the Future and Reinstalling it - NOT WORKED
Verifying the integrity of the game files through steam - I got a message saying 3 files were missing and it was reacquiring them, but when I launched the game there was no change
Extra Information
I have purchased all of the packs from Steam and play it through the Steam launcher
I have never had any issues with any of my expansion packs until now
All the expansion packs show up in the Sims game launcher AND the Steam launcher
I have no custom content installed
Last night I uninstalled all of my sims games through Steam and it is currently redownloading the lot. I'm posting here in the likely event this doesn't work.

Has anyone else had this issue or know how on earth I can fix it? I've waited years to be able to buy this expansion and am absolutely gutted to have this problem!

Hi @Taziusdelany I haven't installed Into the Future yet, but I believe Oasis Landing is "visited" kind of like the World Adventure worlds. I found some info about it HERE. Hope this helps :) and happy simming.

I reinstalled ITF after having it uninstalled for months. I was so excited to play, but after collecting the power cells and selecting "travel to the future", it went into map view, but no loading screen. I tried 2 more times in different worlds and the power cell opportunity didn't even come up! I need to do this for my new YouTube LP and it can't be delayed. I doubt anyone will help since this thread has been abandoned though.
