I had a lot of similar problems:
1. Lags Lags Lags
2. Sims congregating in one location - this was the worse!!!! Every.single.day, same place and they would just stand around and do nothing!
3. Frozen Sims
4. Abandoned cars EVERYWHERE
Luckily, I haven't had the bed bug problem. Bridgeport is buggie, buggie, buggie and I couldn't even play Bridgeport. So, I started my new town in Twinbrook. Everything was going okay but then I started with the items I listed above. I have all the expansion packs installed and High End Loft Stuff. The other main problem I was having is that the EA story progression wasn't working correctly and my town was dying off of old age. My old Sims just died. Their children lived with them until they finally got old and died. No one moved in or out of any given house.
I tried reset Sim on my Sims all congregating to one location, but within a couple of Sim hours, they were all back. I was a non-modder. I didn't want mods. I think what finally did it for me was that I got tired of deleting all the abandoned cars out of my neighborhood.
I finally gave in and downloaded Overwatch, Master Controller, and Story Progression. My game no longer lags. My Sims stopped congregating to one location. I have not had one problem since installing Twallan's mods. The game has now become enjoyable to play again. My town is bustling with Story Progression and I no longer have to spend an hour deleting abandoned cars.
With that being said, I think it is absolutely terrible that EA cannot fix their own game, script and codes and that it takes a 3rd party person, i.e., Twallan, to come along with the fix.
To all of those of you that are apprehensive to download Overwatch, I used to be one of you, but I am now again enjoying my game without lags.
