I'm chugging along too, 45rpm, with my original Sims 3 game, though, which I think is close to miraculous considing the horrible state it was in. Game made playable (and even fun) again by Overwatch.
I recently downloaded ErrorTrap, as Crinrict suggested a couple of pages ago; it said it fixed three things and gave me one report. I played for a couple of sim days then I removed the mod again. If you think your game is getting a bit sticky I wonder if it's worth trying ErrorTrap? Don't know enough about it myself but it definitely did something to clean up my game.
Right now I've got Story Progression as well as Overwatch. It's really good - I spent ages reading about all the different options on Twallan's website and then adjusting the settings to my liking. It wasn't as complicated as I feared and I got to grips with it pretty quickly. I must admit that it did seem to re-introduce some lag and occasional freezing, but it's still nowhere near as bad as when I was playing pre-mods. For me the benefits are far outweighing the negatives and I'm really glad I gave the mods a go.
I still have some invisible sims but none of my own active sims are invisible. In fact the only invisible sims seem to be the paparazzi. I know they are there because I see the hovering thought bubbles and I see the gates opening outside my sims' house when the paps arrive or leave. Plus there have been freakish moments when either a camera or a notebook suddenly appears floating in the air and takes pictures or writes notes. But I can live with invisible paparazzi, no problem, as long as my active sims or other town characters behave and stay visible.
Apart from that I've had a few sims get stuck in a variety of furniture, but they unstuck themselves again so that wasn't too bad, and one sim that was just head and feet - no body inbetween! - but I reset her and I hope that's OK now. Maybe this is the first example of a half-invisible sim?!
Sims is still fun for me right now but the bugs list is lengthy. I'm taking lots of screenshots and might make a site like andreeandree's. I was impressed by her dedicated documentation and some of the bugs do look quite funny sometimes.
