[MAC] Disc Authentication failure.

I went to play the game after I updating and while I was downloading that patch, it asked me to change certifications, which I pressed yes ( or it would ask me to do it again if I wanted to download the update again ). Anyway, it goes through all the motions of the beginning of the game, but when I get to the option to pick my sims, it tells me "DISC AUTHENTICATION FAILURE" and it tells me that it's having a hard time telling if it's a real Sims 3 disc (Which it is because I've had it forever). Help! I really don't want to reinstall.

    Hi

After downloading the patch, what is your current patch level? Is is updated to 1.67? Do you have any mods or custom content that might be incompatible with the newer patch level?

Look closely at the disc -are there any small scratches, dirt or other damage? Sometimes the game just starts throwing up that annoying message, occasionally because the disc has become damaged, other times just because TS3 is temperamental. Try popping out the disc and reintroducing it to the disc drive a few times. I've had that message a few times in the past and then it would suddenly start working again. Restart your computer before you open the Launcher.

If all else fails you could always register your game codes with Origin and use digital downloads so that the disc is no longer required.
