10 years agoTried installing TS3 on my brand new iMac. Highest one (1TB Etc) 2016 27". It updated itself immediately to the latest (debugged) version of El Capitan. (What a ___ OS btw, not a fan as most of my programs will not run and iDVD is gone!). I bought an external CD drive just for my TS games! Obviously I won't even try to install TS2 (and every expansion pack made) as 3 isn't working at all. Installed, authenticity failed and then again it and then it crashed. That happened twice. What can I do? My husband suggested downloading th game (repurchasing it hoping it had patches in it) or just trying to download TS4 but TSR had more for TS3 then 4 and I'm all about building then playing. Any helpful info would be great. Thank you!

And with regards to TS2, if you purchase it through the App Store it works great.

Thank you!! Im having my husband rebuild the PC and keeping it on a dual boot so that Windows Vista remains as does my Sims 2 and 3. I actually just purchased Sims 4 and I'm going to download it (even thought it came with the disc Mac needs a download--odd) and keep my fingers crossed that it works. Hope so. My computer is a new iMac 27' 3.2 intel core i5 processor with 8GB 16 Mhz men, Nvidia GeForce GT 755M 1024 MB (awesome cards) Im also running El Cap version 10.11.3
Wish me luck! I'm in serious Sims withdrawal. Over a year!

That Mac is the late 2013 model so TS3 should be compatible. It's the 2014 onwards iMacs with the AMD GPUs which are not compatible - great news! But it's also one of the Macs listed here which is having issues with TS3 in El Capitan - http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-Mac/OS-X-El-Capitan-and-The-Sims-4/m-p/4831536/highlight/true#M110 EA haven't fixed it yet, 5 months on...
