Hello, My problem there is where it says select the preferred graphics processor ) when I open up my Nvidia control manager it does not say that. It has this instead,(specify  the settings for this program). It doesn't have a number 3 under that  where I can change the card to the Nvidia. My computer is a windows 8.1. Could that have something to do with it. Where do I go to change the card to the Nvidia card? I tried to copy and paste it so you could see but it wouldn't copy.  Is there somewhere eles in the 3D manager that I can go to change the card. Why doesn't it have a space there where I can change it ? Please help me if  you possibly can.   Thank you, Linda

Hello again, I meant to say it doesn't have a number 2 where it ask to change the card. It only goes to the Specify the settings for this program. If I could click on the change the graphics card to Nvidia 750 my problems would be solved but it doesn't give me that option. Do you have any ideas why it is like that?

Thank you for your help, Linda

I hope this will kind of give you an idea about my computer. I have a great graphics card but it is crappy with the sims 3. I have had a lot of people tell me it should play the game like a whiz. But it doesn't. The graphics are crappy. The grass is like a sheet of paper, no texture. The horses when the game looks like stick horses until it takes a few minutes for them to materialize. It is just so frustrating. I am completely at a loss because I don't know how to correct it.  I had one guy tell me that my system and card were to much for the game. Could this be a problem?  If what I have typed is not enough let me know what you need and I will go back and type some more for you. Thank you so much for taking your time with this problem.

I know you always say Happy Simming, I just wish I could.  Linda

You can just split them in mulltiple posts.

I would also need the part about System devices although to me it does not look like you ahve a dual graphic card system. Seems you just have that 750.

DId you try playing around with the graphics settings in game ? Put everything on high ? Made sure edge smoothing is turned on and stuff ? You can also try what happens if you start the game through the Nvidia experience. Maybe that makes it better.

Hello, yes, I tried setting the graphics on the highest setting. The game practically froze when I did. There was so much lag. I just know that there is something not right somewhere. I think it has a lot to do with the game. You would think with a all the ram I have and the graphics card the game would play but it doesn't. I did play the game on an old Dell computer and it played fine. I had cc and mods and the game ran smoothe. My hard drive went out in that computer so I bought a new one. I just cannot figure it out. I even downloaded a Force ware display gaming driver from Nvidia and still the game will not play. Do you think if I bought another computer with a Nvidia Geforce 730 graphics card the game would play. I saw that it was compatible with the game. If you think so I will give this computer to my husband and just get me another one. I am tired of worrying with it. I have tried everything I know to do except the fix that you offer with changing the sgr files. That is just a little bit too much for me to take on.   Again thank you for any advice you can give me. I know if anyone knows you do from all the things you have done for the game.

It should work with the card you have. I myself do not believe that the sgr fix does much so I don't really recommend it anymore but there's people over at the official fourm in the sims 3 section that can help you with that.

So starting through the Nvidia Experience didn't do anything either ? Does it recognize the game ? What settings does it recommend to you ?

Tagging @PeopleMatterMore and @CodySimstein to see if they have more ideas.

Hello, I have tried launching the game from the Nvidia Experience thing. It doesn't help. I have tried setting the graphics as high as they would go and when I do the game will not even run. The graphics are terrible. The horses look like stick horses for a few minutes then they gradually reappear. The people are the same way. The grass is like a sheet of green paper without any texture at all. I just don' t understand it. What can I be doing wrong? I think if it wasn't installed properly nothing eles would work on my computer. The graphics are great with everything eles except the sims 3. My device config log says it found 0 matched 0. Doesn't that mean the sims 3 is not recognizing the card? Would it help to reinstall the game? The last time in installed it ididn't us the origin install. Would that help?

Maybe it helps to do the graphics fix, I simply don't know but since you said you don't feel confident enough to do it, I don't know what to tell you. I'm not exactly sure what the devicelog file does. Maybe it is necessary but maybe it's just a file to set th initial settings.

I doubt that reinstalling the game helps but it's worth a try if you have the patience for it. Make sure to try on the base game without any expansion packs.

Try a clean reinstall following the instructions here: http://simswiki.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:TS3_Uninstall and here: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-3/Help-Guide-All-in-one-fix-except-hardware-issues-PC-only/m-p/734448#M36281 where it says Delete game installers

Hello, I uninstalled the game. I had several eps that wouldn't uninstall from the add an remove program thing. I had to delete them and their key numbers manually. Do you think they could be corrupt? I am afraid to reinstall them since they were so hard to uninstall. Maybe they could be the problem. I am just guessing.  Thank you for all your help.

    Could be.

Just install the base game for now and patch that and then see how it goes.

Hello, I installed my game and as soon as I started to play it said , Your card is not in the sims 3 database.  I am trying to fix the sgr files. I typed my graphics card into the Graphics card.sgr file. Here is what it looks like.

    card 0x1004 "GeForce GTX 750"
    card 0x124d "GeForce GT 555M"
    card 0x06c0 "GeForce GTX 480"
    card 0x06cd "GeForce GTX 470"
    card 0x0dc4 "GeForce GTS 450"
card 0x0dd1 "GeForce GTX 460M (rev

My card is the GTX 750. I checked my device config log to see if there was a match and it still said Found 0 matched 0. I figured it would have at least said found 1 matched 0. I haven't done the Graphics card.sgr rules yet. What am I doing wrong. I saved the file to my desktop because it wouldn't let me save it in the file. I deleted the Graphics card. sgr and pasted the new file back into the bin. It appeared as it was suppose to with my card added. But it still says found 0 matched 0. Please tell me what I am doing wrong. Was I suppose to copy my card to the graphics card sgr.orig or the graphics card.sgr file. I am confused. Should it have worked the way I did it. Please respond.

orig is the backup so you should add it to the other one.

I'm not sure if both files editing is required for it to work properly (card and rule) but I can't really help with it since I never really tried myself (and also still don't believe that it will fix your issue. There's something else going on)

I see if someone else can help you further

Hello, I have great news. I finally figured out how to fix my game and it was a very simple fix. I had one person tell me to go into my graphics card and click on the card I wanted my computer to use. Well, my graphics card did not offer that option. Instead it said, (Specify the settings for this program.) The program that was listed was The Sims 3. I thought what if I were to add the last ep I download to the list and put it in the box where it ask for a program to customize. Well I copied and pasted the sims 3 seasons and when I checked my game it was working. The graphics were at their highest settings, it ran smoothe even with a lot of custom content added. If someone eles is having a problem and their graphics card doesn't offer the click on graphics card option this will work for them. Thank you for all your help  and support. I was so happy when I was finally able to play my game again I did a happy dance.
