The file name at the sims 3 website stays the same and they do not tell you what version they have currently released, so there is no way to know just by visiting the site or examining the file the version you have or is avalible for download. The only way to check is to periocly download the file and reinstall. Looks to me like they should fix this but as you may know even thier updates are buggy. However, I do know that a new version was released just this morning. Download the file again, uninstall your verion and install the new one. This should solve the problem.
