You need to move out the .sims3 one and remove the .backup from the backup file so that the backup has the extension .sims3.
Could you please accept a solution so people know that this is solved and what the solution was.

It would have worked, but it did not go back far enough. It went as far back as the second save, not the first, before I moved the family, which is what I need, to get back to the original Appaloosa Plains. I tried going through the University to get back to my original families, but that didn't work, either. I don't know what else to try, unless there is something further you can help with. I will just use my old game. I'll save what I still have in case you think of something. I do thank you for your assistance. It was greatly appreciated as always.

Don't think there's anything else you can do. If the backups are from the wrong point in time and there isn't another savegame, you will need to go back to your june files.

That's what I thought and I already did. And thanks again for your help. Have a ton of work to do to get to where I was, but a lot better than starting from ground zero. I would do a little cheating and grow them up and buy their degrees, but I always try to make matches during UL and am hoping to make the same couples. We'll see how it goes. And I will probably create a saved game once a month...lol.... Thanks again!!
Try making regular backups (maybe once a week) by just coping the saves folder to an external drive or where ever you want.
This way you won't have to go back this far.

I have a question. I moved a family(Felix) to Hidden Springs from Sunset Valley. I saved. I overwrote the old Sunset Valley because I didn't know what I was doing. I tried to go back to Sunset Valley but all my families were deleted. How do I get it back?? I've tried using the backup but it just brings me back to the Hidden Sprins with the deleted Sunset Valley. PLEASE HELP ME
